Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputies Are In A Standoff With An Armed Person In East San Jose Home

SAN JOSE (October 12, 2021)– Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies have been in an overnight standoff with an armed person who reportedly has hostages inside an East San Jose home, authorities said.

Deputies were called to the 3000 block of East Hills Drive after 10 p.m. Monday for a report of a disturbance involving someone with a gun, Deputy Russell Davis said. They learned afterward that other people were inside the home and were not being allowed to leave.

A sheriff’s tactical team and a crisis negotiation team were summoned to the scene, Davis said, adding that the agency is focused on de-escalating the situation toward a peaceful end.

There was no immediate word on any injuries. A heavy police presence remained at the site Tuesday morning.
