AG Garland Has Not Responded To The GOP’s Letter Requesting DOJ To End Investigation Against Parents Requested by NSBA

CITY OF WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 26, 2021)–a group of Republican’s lead by GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy wrote Attorney General Merrick B. Garland a letter about the National School Board Association’s (NSBA) September 29, 2021 letter “likening parents to domestic terrorism.”  The AG in a memo directed the Department of Justice to work in concert with the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Offices to implement a strategy to investigate parents at school board meetings.

The letter further stated that “since that letter was published, the American public has not only learned that individuals in the Biden’s administration worked with the NSBA to craft that letter.”

The Republican members wrote “it was alarming to hear that the Department was moved to target parents by a single letter, especially a letter that the Administration had a hand in molding.  But after the NBSA received backlash–due to the letter, on October 22nd they attempted to rescind their letter to the Biden’s Administration and wrote “after facing the backlash of nearly 20 state school board associations–they attempted to apologize for writing the letter.”

The Republicans are asking the DOJ how can they proceed with it’s actions–since the NBSA no longer stands by their letter.

GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted “You must immediately dissolve your plans to stand up a DOJ task force to target concerned parents at school board meetings.”
