Massive Shooting Near Embassies In The Nation’s Capital

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 22, 2022)—a massive shooting near several embassies.  DC Police are investigating a massive shooting near the campus of the University of District of Columbia (UDC) in Northwest, D.C. where at least six  people reported shot, two critical, but stable.  One student was shot while walking home from nearby Edmund Burke school. Several students was injured inside of Edmund Burke school due to shattered glass during the shooting.

There are several embassies near the shooting location, but no reports of injuries. Embassies near the University of the District of Columbia:

D.C. Police confirmed 3 shooting victims, but the investigation is in it’s early stages.  

The D.C. Police has several organizations on location, including the FBI, AFT, Homeland Security, UDC Police, and U.S. Park Police.

The police are sweeping several apartment buildings.  Several people have been escorted under police protection to safety from several buildings including the Ava Apartment building, located at 4101 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. where it had been reported that the shooter was sheltering inside of the building.

There is a school in the area.  The students are in a lockdown, but no injuries inside the school were reported.  The DC Police responded to a shooting on Connecticut Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. around 3:20 PM as President Joe Biden was delivering Earth Day remarks.  

The police detained several people who were running from the scene of the shooting, but all detained individuals have been released.

There is no description of the shooter, and no known motive.
