
HIGHLAND PARK, IL (July 5, 2022)— the Highland Park shooter dressed as a woman to blend into the crowd at the Highland Park’s July 4th Parade. He had two rifle’s , one was identified as a high power rifle.
According to the Highland Park police, the shooter purchased his guns legally in Illinois.
Robert “Bobby” Crimo III, was driving a Silver, 2010 Honda Fit at the time of his arrest around 6:30 p.m. central standard time in connection with the shooting, nearly nine hours after the shooting. After the shooting, he dropped his riffle, and walked to his mother’s home. To conceal his identity as he shot from a rooftop down on parade goers he dressed as a woman to coverup tattoos on his body and face Monday morning. At the time of his arrest, Crimo, III had a second rifle inside of his vehicle.
Officials said his vehicle was spotted and he was stopped after a brief pursuit. He is being taken to the Highland Park Police Department as the investigation continues.
The motive for the shooting is unknown. And there is no evidence that the shooting was racially motivated.
Some victims have not been identified, and ages range from 8 years old to 85 years old. According to the authorities 4 adults died at the scene, one died at the hospital and one child is in critical condition. The authorities confirmed Tuesday that more than 31 people were taken to local hospitals with injuries. According to reports there were 26 people taken to Highland Park Hospital medical facility, 25 of whom had suffered gunshot wounds. Six other patients were taken to Evanston Hospital, four were taken to Glenbrook Hospital, and several others were taken to another hospital outside of the Northshore University Medical System network, said CBS.
“This individual is believed to have been responsible for what happened,” Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Chris Covelli said Monday night.
The shooting took place under heavy police presence during the parade. The citizens didn’t have a chance to take cover… since Crimo had staked out a location on a high-rise office building using a high-powered rifle. He left the rifle and a ladder he attached to the building on the scene.
A former FBI agent said that the shooting appeared to be a drawn out plan. Crimo posted a video on social media kneeling down among student’s school desk.
