WASHINGTON, D.C., May 27, 2023 (Bee News Daily)— Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced “after weeks of negotiations with President Joe Biden, “we have come to an agreement in principle” regarding the National debt ceiling crisis.
McCarthy added, “We still have a lot of work to do” but McCarthy and Biden have reached an agreement of principle worthy of the American people. The agreement has historic reductions in spending and consequential reforms, and it will “lift” people out of poverty and into the workforce.
With the reigning in government overreach, there are no new taxes. There is a lot more in the bill, McCarthy said.

He did not provide any other details about the bill because McCarthy said that the writing of the bill will be completed tonight. He wants to brief his members first about the progress of the bill with a Wednesday vote.
He thanked Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA) and Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) “for all of their hard work on this” and all of the work he intends to do tonight. McCarthy will check with the White House Sunday and speak with Biden again later that afternoon and post the text of the agreement sometime Sunday.
