WASHINGTON, DC, November 11, 2024 (Bee News Daily) — President-elect Donald Trump is beginning to fill key roles in his second administration, focusing on individuals who were strong allies during his 2024 campaign. Here’s a look at some of his top selections so far:
Susie Wiles, Chief of Staff
Wiles, 67, was a senior adviser to Trump’s 2024 campaign and served as its de facto manager. With a background in Florida politics, she played a key role in Ron DeSantis’s first gubernatorial victory and was instrumental in Trump’s victory over DeSantis in the 2024 Republican primary. Wiles’ selection was Trump’s first major decision as president-elect, marking her as a significant figure in his administration. She is known for earning Trump’s trust by guiding his most disciplined campaign, keeping him focused by demonstrating the success of her strategies.
Stephen Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy
Miller, 39, a staunch immigration hardliner, was a senior adviser in Trump’s first administration and played a central role in shaping his immigration policies. Known for his advocacy of mass deportations, Miller has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s approach to national security and immigration. Since leaving office, he has led America First Legal, an organization aimed at challenging the Biden administration and various institutions on issues like free speech and national security. As deputy chief of staff for policy, he would continue to push Trump’s hardline policy agenda.
Tom Homan, ‘Border Czar’
Homan, 62, will oversee Trump’s priority of executing the largest deportation operation in U.S. history. A former ICE director under Trump’s first administration, Homan has long been a strong supporter of Trump’s immigration policies. He has expressed his readiness to lead a massive deportation effort, while insisting it would be carried out humanely. Critics, however, have pointed to his defense of the controversial “zero tolerance” policy during Trump’s first term, which led to the separation of thousands of families at the border.
Former Representative Lee Zeldin
Former Rep. Lee Zeldin is an American attorney, politician, and officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He represented New York’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Republican Party, Zeldin was a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump during his time in office.
Recently, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Zeldin has pledged to restore U.S. energy dominance, revitalize the auto industry, and position the U.S. as a global leader in artificial intelligence, all while safeguarding access to clean air and water.
Elise Stefanik, United Nations Ambassador
Stefanik, 40, is a New York representative and one of Trump’s most vocal defenders. Elected to the House in 2014, she became House Republican Conference chair in 2021 after Liz Cheney was removed for publicly criticizing Trump. Known for her outspoken stance on issues like antisemitism on university campuses, Stefanik’s national profile has grown significantly. If confirmed as U.N. ambassador, she would represent U.S. interests as Trump seeks to end the Russia-Ukraine war and push for peace amid ongoing conflicts in Israel and Lebanon.
