President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden pay their respects to Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick at U.S.Capitol

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 2, 2021)—tonight President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden paid their respects to fallen U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, whos remains are lying in honor in the building’s sacred Rotunda. Officer Sicknick died four weeks ago after responding to the riot that erupted in the Capitol building.  

 Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wrote “The U.S. Congress is united in grief, gratitude and solemn appreciation for the service and sacrifice of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Officer Sicknick’s heroism helped save lives and protect our democracy. Now, he lies in honor in the U.S. Capitol as we pay tribute to his bravery and patriotism.”
 
But the entire nation mourns the lost of Officer Sicknick—a standing patriot who gave his life while protecting our government, elected officials and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect all of us.   
 
 
The viewing for Sicknick began at 10 p.m. and was set to last overnight. A ceremony is set to take place on Wednesday.
