Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt — October 13, 2025, 1:30 pm EDT

In a historic show of unity, more than 20 world leaders gathered today in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh to endorse a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and to launch a sweeping peace initiative aimed at stabilizing Gaza and reshaping the future of the Middle East. The summit, co-chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, marked the formal signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement and the release of the final Israeli hostages held since the October 2023 attacks.
“That was beautiful.”, Trump gets overwhelmed by Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif’s praises at Egypt hosted peace summit. The Pakistani PM Laudes US President’s role in the India Pakistan May Ceasefire & again nominated him for Noble Peace Prize.
Among the attendees were:
- UN Secretary-General António Guterres
- British Prime Minister Keir Starmer
- German Chancellor Friedrich Merz
- French President Emmanuel Macron
- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
- Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez
- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas
- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
- Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani
- Jordanian King Abdullah II
- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
- UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed
- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto (via video address)
President Trump opened the summit with a declaration:
“This is the day that people across this region and around the world have been working, striving, hoping, and praying for. With the historic agreement we have just signed, those prayers of millions have finally been answered. Together, we have achieved the impossible.”
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz praised the summit’s outcome:
“A new phase of peace and cooperation begins. I thank all participants—especially President Trump and President el-Sisi—for their initiative and commitment. This achievement is the result of many efforts”.
French President Emmanuel Macron echoed the sentiment:
“We are here not just to end a war, but to begin a new era. France stands with the people of Gaza and Israel in their pursuit of dignity, security, and peace.”
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized regional solidarity:
“Pakistan joins this summit with a full heart and a clear purpose—to support peace, protect civilians, and rebuild Gaza with compassion and resolve.”
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, visibly emotional, said:
“This agreement is not perfect, but it is a beginning. We must now build trust, restore hope, and ensure that Gaza’s children grow up in peace—not rubble.”
The summit follows the release of 20 surviving Israeli hostages and the freeing of over 1,900 Palestinian detainees. The peace plan includes phased demilitarization, humanitarian aid corridors, and a roadmap toward Palestinian sovereignty. While Israel and Hamas did not attend the summit directly, their representatives signed the agreement through Egyptian and Qatari mediation.
Notably absent was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who cited religious observances for his absence. His decision drew criticism from opposition leaders, including Yair Golan, who said:
“Netanyahu’s refusal to attend this historic event orchestrated by President Trump is driven purely by narrow political interests”.
Leaders posed for a group photo beneath a banner reading “Peace 2025,” and a moment of silence was held for victims of the two-year war. Trump and el-Sisi embraced on stage, signaling a rare moment of bipartisan and international consensus.
As the summit concluded, President Trump declared:
“All the momentum now is toward a great, glorious, and lasting peace.”
Whether this momentum holds will depend on the implementation of the agreement and the political will of regional actors. But for now, the world stands united—at least for one day—in pursuit of peace. Let me know if you’d like this adapted into a campaign overlay, diplomatic briefing, or annotated timeline.
