WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump is convening the International Board of Peace today, according to administration officials, with discussions centered in part on frameworks to support the redevelopment of Gaza following months of conflict and humanitarian disruption.
White House officials said the session brings together representatives from the board’s founding member countries to align on post-conflict recovery principles, humanitarian stabilization, and long-term reconstruction planning. The administration described the meeting as an initial coordination effort rather than a donor conference, aimed at establishing common guidelines for how international assistance could be structured and monitored.
According to briefing materials shared with participating delegations, the board is expected to focus on phased redevelopment priorities for Gaza, beginning with emergency infrastructure repairs, housing rehabilitation, and restoration of essential services such as water, electricity, and healthcare. Officials emphasized that any redevelopment plan discussed would be contingent on sustained security conditions and expanded humanitarian access.
Administration officials said the board is examining mechanisms to coordinate international funding, ensure transparency in aid delivery, and prevent diversion of reconstruction resources. Options under review include multilateral oversight structures, independent auditing, and partnerships with international financial institutions and relief agencies to manage large-scale rebuilding projects.
The discussions are also expected to address economic recovery components, including job creation through construction projects, support for local businesses, and the reopening of trade and logistics channels. U.S. officials said the goal is to pair physical reconstruction with economic stabilization to reduce long-term dependency on aid.
Participants were briefed that the International Board of Peace does not replace existing diplomatic tracks but is intended to complement them by offering a standing forum for coordination among founding members. The board is expected to issue a summary of agreed principles following the meeting, with follow-up sessions planned to refine timelines and responsibilities.
The White House said no final commitments are expected today, but officials described the meeting as a step toward shaping an international approach to Gaza’s redevelopment that balances humanitarian needs, security considerations, and long-term regional stability.
