WASHINGTON — Federal authorities have arrested multiple individuals accused of participating in an alleged plot to attack the UFC Freedom 250 event held on the White House grounds, according to statements from the FBI and law enforcement officials. Investigators say the planned attack involved explosive-laden drones, sniper-style gunfire, and a coordinated effort to create panic among attendees.
The FBI announced that it became aware of the threat on June 10, several days before the event. Working with the Secret Service, the Department of Justice, and numerous field offices across the country, investigators launched a multi-state operation that resulted in multiple arrests before the event took place.
According to investigators, encrypted communications allegedly showed participants discussing the use of drones carrying explosive payloads. Authorities say the drones were intended to strike buildings near the event, triggering confusion and a mass evacuation. The alleged plan then called for a gunman or sniper team to target people fleeing the area. Some reports state that a second phase of the operation involved an attempt to breach a White House security checkpoint after the initial attack.
Federal investigators reported that the communications were discovered through encrypted messaging platforms and involved more than 20 individuals. Authorities have not publicly identified all suspects, and the investigation remains active. Additional arrests are possible.
At least one defendant, identified in unsealed federal court documents as 19-year-old Tycen Proper of Ohio, has been charged with conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, attempted murder of a federal official, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and receipt or transfer of a firearm intended to be used in a felony. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether terrorism-related charges, explosives offenses, or additional conspiracy counts will be sought against other suspects.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the threat was disrupted before any attack could be carried out. The UFC event, which was attended by thousands of spectators and high-profile guests, proceeded under extensive security measures. Authorities have not reported any injuries related to the alleged plot.
Court proceedings are expected to continue as prosecutors present evidence and determine whether further charges will be filed. Federal officials have emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
