CITY OF WASHINGTON, D.C.(April 2, 2021)–today, an unknown assailant used a vehicle to ram into two United States (U.S.) Capitol police officers guarding the U.S. Capitol following the January 6, 2021 attack.

The U.S. Guard has secured the perimeter and the suspect is in custody. It has been reported that both police officers and the suspect have been taken to local hospitals. Two police officers are in critical condition and the extent of their injuries are unknown. The motive of the suspect is also unknown.
Message sent to the congressional offices “Due to…security threat located. All U.S. Capitol Campus Buildings, no entry or exit is permitted at this time. You may move throughout the building(s) but stay away from exterior window and doors. If you are outside, seek cover.”

The police reported that the unknown suspect is dead. The suspect had a knife inside of his vehicle–but no gun was reported. The suspect exited the vehicle carrying a knife in combative gesture–when he was shot and killed. It is unknown if the suspect has been radicalized.

One of the injured officers condition has improved, but Members of the Senate are concerned about the reported condition of the second officer.

One US Capitol Police has died from his injuries. No other information has been released to the public. The second officer has been reported in critical condition. Their names have not been released. According to reports, the suspect’s name is 25 year old Noah Green. Green was from Indiana but lived in Virginia. Green was also a Nation of Islam follower,
In 2013, Reverend Senator Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, called the Nation of Islam “an “important” voice for Blacks, adding, “we’ve needed the witness of the National of Islam.”

The White House has not released an official statement, but an official reported that President Joe Biden left for Camp David earlier Friday—and has been briefed on the US Capitol shooting incident. Biden later issued an Executive Order–flying the USA Flag half staff in memory of Officer William “Billy”
